Right before Thanksgiving, our family got the news that we would be moving. My husband is in the military so it was not a total shocker, but we were not prepared for how fast it would happen. In just ten weeks we were moving into our new home. We sold our other one, packed up all of our belongings, and we (including a few friends) drove seven hours away. All of this during the holidays with homeschooling.
However, we are getting settled in, and I am exploring new ways to find food in the DC area. It really isn’t hard with a few organic stores right up the street, but I still want to do it as cheaply as possible. My other problem is that my all time favorite fast food is right up the street. Let me clarify… there are THREE of them right up the street. So what is a girl to do? Pray! That is right. I have been praying for will power to keep driving past. I also am amazed at how expensive fast foods are for me now. I can not settle for the cheap dollar burger because my taste buds know what yummy veggies taste like, and I want it. So I have to commit this to prayer.
The best alternative that I have found so far is Paleo wraps stuffed with honey chicken. There iisn’t a recipe for it other than throwing some honey and chicken in a pan and frying them. I love them. I usually put kale and small diced tomatoes in them. The whole thing maybe costs me $2.50. No, it isn’t the cheapest lunch, but it is way cheaper than what I could get in a drive through. Oh, and steam some broccoli to put on your plate because it is good for you:).
